A Vision for Kansas
I believe that every Kansan, from the youngest to the oldest, deserves to thrive – not just survive. That vision can become reality when we stop spending precious time and money on senseless extremist legislation.
As an experienced advocate for Kansas families, I have worked closely with legislators for many years, and often it can be frustrating. Kansans are not being heard by our elected officials. I was going to retire and rest. But I realized that now is the time to stand up.
I know we can do better. I am committed to compromise and collaboration. With that commonsense approach, we will create the policies, systems, and programs that Kansas citizens deserve.
A vote for the Republican candidate is a vote for the Speaker of the House, regardless of their good intentions. I will not go to Topeka to take orders from party leadership. I will go to Topeka to be your representative.
I Value:
Community and Family
Independence and Accountability
Hard Work.
Compassion.
I Will Work To:
Lower costs
including healthcare, childcare, housing, gas, and groceries.
Support working Kansans
not wealthy corporations.
Invest in public education and in our kids’ futures.
Restore common sense at the Capitol.
A Strong Foundation
A state is only as strong as its foundation. A strong economy, a robust healthcare system, and quality public schools should command our attention now and into the future.
Economy – Jobs – Workforce Stability
A strong Kansas economy depends on strong families. When parents and caregivers can't find affordable childcare, struggle to pay for diapers and food, or have to choose between their job and their baby's health, our whole workforce suffers. When families who need it receive support early on, parents can stay in the workforce, businesses thrive, and communities grow stronger.
The cost of raising children and aging with dignity has become unaffordable and inaccessible. I will advance commonsense policies to lower costs and support families and seniors. I will support policies that generate good jobs for working people and drive economic growth. I will support every good-faith effort to lower costs for all of us.
Health Care Access and Costs
Every Kansan deserves quality, affordable health care, from providers they trust, when and where they need it. I will help to craft and pass policies to lower prices and preserve and expand access, especially in our rural areas.
Education
Our public schools, attended by 90% of Kansas kids, are at the very heart of our communities. We must provide the resources our schools need to support our teachers as they help our kids learn and grow. I will oppose school vouchers and tax breaks for those who choose private schools.
It is imperative that we fully fund special education. This has not been done since 2010, forcing school districts to use their general funds to fill the gap. Students who qualify for special education services deserve the same opportunity to become contributing members of their communities.

Today was the day - Filing Day!
Brenda Bandy announces candidacy for Kansas House District 67.
MANHATTAN, Kan. May, 6, 2026– Democrat Brenda Bandy announced today that she has filed for election to the Kansas House of Representatives, District 67. Bandy is the co-founder and executive director of the Kansas Breastfeeding Coalition.
“We must restore common sense at the Capitol,” Bandy said. “I know what it takes to pass good policies at the state level – listening, learning, and level-headedness. If more of us are committed to compromise and collaboration, we have a better chance to create the systems and programs that Kansas citizens deserve.”
Bandy earned a Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry at Kansas State University. She is a member of the Kansas Maternal Child Health Council and the Early Childhood Recommendation Panel. She has been an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) since 2010. She is an active member and a former board member of the U.S. Breastfeeding Committee. Bandy serves on the board of directors of the Kansas Head Start Association and is a former board member of the Kansas Association for Infant Mental Health.
Bandy was the 2025 recipient of the Samuel J. Crumbine Medal, the highest award given by the Kansas Public Health Association. Winners of the award, named after KPHA founder and internationally renowned public health leader Dr. Samuel J. Crumbine, are selected for their meritorious service and state, regional or national recognition related to the improvement of the health of Kansans and/or the environment of the state.
“For the past 15 years, I have worked with legislators at the Capitol in Topeka, advocating for policies that support families,” Bandy said. “I’ve noticed they have less time, and for some, less interest in listening. Some in the majority have become emboldened to say and do things under the Capitol dome that were unthinkable in years past. I’ve seen the poor policies that result from rushed legislative sessions with little or no discussion or input from others.
I am committed to listening to constituents, advocates, and my legislative colleagues. I will pursue policies that address rising costs, the Kansas economy and workforce stability, and health care access and costs.”
